Meeting my TV writing role model at SXSW

I am a mass-communication-public relations major at Texas State University. I originally (when I was age 5) wanted to be a video rewind person at a video store like Blockbuster.  My inspiration for wanting such a career came from the movie Superstar (1999).  The movie starred Saturday Night Live alum Molly Shannon who worked as a video rewind person on the weekends when she didn’t attend catholic school. When I saw that Blockbuster was closing a bunch of its stores (and eventually all stores) my dreams were crushed and I had to pick a new career. Mass Communications and the study of media it was.

About the Blog:

I originally covered educational things and incorporating film references into the posts. Since December 2013, I have started to focus more on film reviews and the analysis of the film and television industry. I focus on independent film with the occasional mainstream Hollywood film.

Some of my favorite things are:

  • Movies: Safety Not Guaranteed, Wet Hot American Summer, Flirting with Disaster, Superstar, Night at the Roxbury, Click, The Italian Job, Pacific Rim, Silver Linings Playbook.
  • TV: It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Seinfeld, American Horror Story, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Law and Order: SVU.
  • Books: A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Giver, The Hunger Games, As I Lay Dying, The Perks of Being a Wallflower
  • Music: Maroon 5, Imagine Dragons, Switchfoot, Of Monsters and Men
